Rochester, Mich. ???C Oakland University will serve as a host institution for first and second round games of the 2006 NCAA Men???s Basketball Tournament the NCAA announced this afternoon. The games will be played at the Palace of Auburn Hills on March 17 and March 19. This will be the first time that Oakland has served as a host school for an NCAA event since becoming a Division I institution in 1998. ???We are very excited to be a part of hosting an NCAA championship,??? said Oakland associate athletics director Tracy Huth. ???It will be a great opportunity for us to work with the Palace of Auburn Hills; we and the rest of the university community are looking forward to hosting the event. We are pleased that the NCAA placed enough confidence in us to host such a prestigious event.???
