Swimmers Chris Sullivan (So./Rockford, Mich.) and Danielle Ward (Sr./Brighton, Mich.) were named Mid-Con Athletes of the Week for swimming & diving for the week of November 5. Sullivan dominated competition the past weekend facing opponents from Cincinnati and Wright State. He defeated his Cincinnati counterparts in the 50 free (21.23) and swam a leg in the winning 400 free relay team (3:10.23). He went on to defeat opponents against Wright State on Saturday winning the 50 free (21.28) and 100 free (46.69), and was a member of the winning 200 free relay team (1:26.03). Ward helped lead the Grizzlies to a 1-1 record last week against Wright State and Cincinnati. Ward finished first in the 50, 200 and 500 freestyle events against the Bearcats, and was also a member of the 400 yard free relay team that finished first. On Saturday's competition, Ward won the 50 and 100 free events, and was a member of the victorious 200 free relay team. She now holds the top Mid-Con performance times this season in the 500 free (5:08.89) and 200 free (1:55.10), as well as the second-best 50 free (24.51) time. The women's swimming and diving team return to action this coming weekend when they host the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois on Saturday at the OU Natorium at 1 p.m. The men's team resumes competition November 15 where they travel to Toledo, Ohio to take on the Rockets.
