Both Oakland University's swimming & diving teams kicked off their official start of the season at the Bowling Green Relays on Friday. The two teams swam ten relays each in the meet and the men's team captured seven first place finishes while setting three new meet records at the event. The women's team captured one first place finish and four second place finishes. Setting the first meet record of the day were Grizzlies' Chris Lutz (Rochester, Michigan), Scott Dickens (Ancaster, Michigan), Chris Sullivan (Rockford, Michigan), and Sean Broadbent (Windsor, Ontario) - swimming the 200 medley in a time of 1:33.33 (old record 1:34.29). The next meet record to be broken was the 400 medley by a time of 3:26.69 by swimmers Andrew Coupland (Victoria), Dickens, Ehud Segal (Givat Zeev, Israel), and Sullivan - beating the old record of 3:27.31. The last meet record was set in the 4x100 freestyle by Broadbent, Dickens, Coupland and Sullivan smashing the old meet record 3:07.93 with a time of 3:05.66. Other first place finishes by the men were in the 300 backstroke, 800 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 4x100 individual medley relays. The first place finish for the women came in the 200 freestyle swam by Oksana Strelets (Kazakhstan), Holly Miller (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), Renie Green (Dearborn, Michigan)/Jordan Longhurst (Albion, Michigan), and Danielle Ward (Brighton, Michigan) with a comibined time of 1:39.24. The remaining results from the relay meet are shown below.
