Terre Haute, Ind. ???C Oakland???s men???s and women???s cross country teams were in action today, taking part in the Asics/Pacesetter Pre-Nationals race that featured the top cross country competition from across the nation on the course that will host the NCAA Championship next month. The women???s squad came home in 22nd place out of 29 teams in the Women???s Open Division, while the men finished 34th out of 36 teams in the Men???s White Division. Sophomore Melissa Nasers (Battle Creek, Mich.) led the women???s team with an impressive showing of 16th place, covering the 6,000 meter course in 22:00.5, improving her 6K time from earlier this season by nearly a minute. Sarah Kane (Sterling Heights, Mich.) was the next finisher for the Golden Grizzlies, crossing the line in 23:17.3 for 146th place. Sarah Drouillard (Lake Orion, Mich.) finished third on the team in 23:37.4, with Kim Schultz (Vermilion, Ohio) and Kara Coraci (Macomb, Mich.) rounding out the scoring places for OU, turning in times of 24:44.4 (232nd) and 24:55.5 (239th) respectively. Oakland???s men???s top five finishers all ran within 30 seconds of each other, with Adam Frezza (Oxford, Mich.) crossing the line first in 25:28.2, good for 123rd place overall on the 8K course. Paul Kulisek (Wonder Lake, Ill.) was next for OU, covering the course in 25:50.0 to finish 162nd. Brandon Fisk (Shelby Township, Mich.) was the third Golden Grizzly across the finish line, coming home in 178th place in 25:58.2. Close behind him were John Cook (St. Clair, Mich.) in 26:00.2 (185th) and Jason Bruscha (Sterling Heights, Mich.) in 26:04.5 (191st) to round out the scoring places for OU. Next up for both teams will be the Eastern Michigan Open in Ypsilanti, Mich. on Oct. 25.
