Friday, September 28, the men's and women's swimming and diving teams split up to face each other in the annual Black and Gold Intersquad Meet, in the OU Aquatic Center. The Black team edged out the Gold team by two points to win 228-226. For the men, the Gold team tallied 115 points, while the Black team recorded 114 points. In the 400 yard medley relay the team of Haitham Hassan, Mark Quinn, Joel Wallace and Chris Sullivan finished in first with a time of 3:33.91. In the 200 butterfly, Hassan finished first with a time of 1:54.89. In the final event of the night the Gold team of Doug Drazin, Sean Broadbent, and freshman Andy Munoz and Tim Johnson finished first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.64 For the women, the Black Team collected 127 points, while the Gold team tallied 99 points. Sophomore Oksana Strelets finished first for the Black team in the 50 yard freestyle with a top time of 23.82. Freshman Holly Miller finished first in the 500 yard freestyle for the Gold team with a time of 5:14.80. In the last event, the 400 yard freestyle relay the Black team of Tamara Swaby, Sara Harley, Renie Green and Oksana Strelets nabbed first place with a time of 3:40.34 The swimming and diving season will open on Wednesday, October 24, as the women play host to the Spartans of Michigan State. The first men's and women's dual meet is Saturday, November 3 as the Grizzlies host Wright State.
