The Oakland University women's swimming and diving team fell to Ohio State 152-148 Friday, February 2 in Columbus, Ohio. Oakland falls to 4-3 in the dual meet season. Individually, Oksana Strelets collected three first-place finishes to lead the Golden Grizzlies. The Kazakhstan native started her evening finishing first in the 50 free in a time of 23.81. Her second top finish came in the 100 yard freestyle (51.91) and her final victory was in the 200 IM (2:09.80). Sophomore Danielle Ward claimed two first-place finishes against the Buckeyes of Ohio State. The Brighton, Michigan product swam a 10:15.72 in the 1000 freestyle and a 4:59.40 in the 500 free. Rounding out OU's top finishers were Shelley Aurit, Tatyana Korniyenko and Veronika Frolova as they each collected one win apiece in the dual match. Aurit finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:24.04, while Korniyenko tallied a first-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (57.88) and Frolova collected a top finish in the 100 breast (1:07.54). Oakland will come home to host Eastern Michigan Friday, February 9 at the OU Aquatics Center. Action will start at 6:30 p.m.
