The Oakland University men's and women's swimming and diving teams captured it's third consecutive Mid-Continent Conference Championship this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. Oakland's men's team finished in first place with 966.50 points while the women's team broke the thousand point mark as they finished first with 1,047 points. On the men's side senior Marc Gray was named the Men's Swimmer of the Year and teammate Chris Gawronski was named Men's Diver of the Year. On the women's side Oakland ran away with all the awards as freshman Tara Berringer was named Newcomer of the Year. Kingston, Jamaica native Tamara Swaby was named the Women's Swimmer of the Year for a second straight time. Senior Devon Cunningham was named the Women's Diver of the Year and head coach
Pete Hovland netted his second straight Mid-Con coach of the Year. Both of Oakland's swimming and diving teams will be in action on December 6-8 as the Golden Grizzlies will participate in the Notre Dame Invitational.
