Basketball season has approached us once again and it is time for the annual "Midnight Madness". OU's Midnight Madness is this Friday, October 12 and doors open at 10:30 p.m. Like other colleges all over the country, both the men's and women's teams will tip off their first practices in front of the Oakland University community at 12 midnight. Midnight Madness will include team introductions, giveaways, entertainment and a whole lot of fun. "It's (Midnight Madness) going to be a great party," said Interim Assistant AD/Marketing Mark Doman. "We will have a lot of contests, giveaways, some great basketball and a lot of fun". The night will include the Pontiac Northern Pep Band, OU's dance team "Images", a sorority and fraternity step show, contests with great prizes and the first look at OU's basketball teams for 2001-02. The Golden Grizzlies basketball programs have enjoyed much success over the past couple of years in Division I. The women's team will be defending the Mid-Continent regular season championship and the men will be elgible for March Madness this year for the first time since the jump to D-I. The night will be capped off with OU president Dr.Gary Russi awarding two lucky OU students a full tuition paid scholarship for the winter 2002 semester.
