Track and Field Hosts Elaine Leigh Invite this Weekend

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland Track & Field team is set to host the annual Elaine Leigh Invite this weekend, welcoming a competitive field to the Oakland Track & Field facility for a two-day meet on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18.

Action begins Friday afternoon with field events at 1:30 p.m., followed by an evening slate of running events starting at 5:30 p.m. The meet continues Saturday with a full day of competition, beginning with field events at noon and running events at 12 p.m.

Oakland will showcase a deep roster across both days, with student-athletes competing in sprints, distance, hurdles, relays, and a full complement of field events including jumps and throws. The Golden Grizzlies will look to build momentum against a strong mix of collegiate and high school competition.

Friday's schedule is highlighted by the college-seeded 1500m at 7:10 p.m. and the 5K races beginning at 8:30 p.m., giving Oakland's distance group an opportunity to post strong early-season marks under the lights.

Saturday features a packed and fast-moving schedule, including preliminary and final rounds in the sprints and hurdles, as well as key events such as the 800m, 400m, and 200m. The meet will conclude with the 4x400 relays and a mixed 4x400 relay to close out the weekend.

A special moment in the meet will come Saturday morning, as Oakland honors its senior class with Senior Day recognition at 11 a.m. in front of the home bleachers. The ceremony will celebrate the contributions and careers of the program's graduating student-athletes before they compete on their home track one final time.

Fans can also follow the action live, with both days of competition streamed on ESPN+.

With a full slate of events and a chance to compete at home, the Golden Grizzlies will look to deliver strong performances across the board in front of their home crowd.
