July 15, 2015

Pam Am Games Softball Schedule

ROCHESTER, Mich.
-- Former Oakland softball catcher Erika Polidori will be playing on the Canadian National Team competing at the Pan American Games held July 19-26 in Toronto, Canada.

The Brantford, Ontario native was a four-year starter and three-time all-league performer for the Golden Grizzlies (2011-14). She finished her career ranked second all-time in program history in batting average (.337), slugging percentage (.545), doubles (36) and home runs (17). She also ranked third in RBI (70), runs (98) and fourth in hits (160). Polidori graduated from Oakland in 2014 with a degree in nursing.

The Pan American Games are the world's third largest international multi-sport Games only surpassed in size and scope by the Olympic Summer Games and the Asian Games.

The first Pan American Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951 and the inaugural Parapan American Games were held in Mexico City in 1999. Both the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games are held every four years for the athletes of the 41 Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) member nations, in the year preceding the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games.
