ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland is ready to take part in its ninth annual dual meet with Detroit, scheduled for Saturday, April 5. The two teams will begin competition at 2:30 p.m. at Titan Field in their first competition as league foes.
Meet Notes
• This is Oakland's first meet of the season as the team elected not to take part in the Oliver Nikoloff Invite at Cincinnati.
• OU returns strong athletes in Jeff Arirguzo (Oakland record holder in 200-meter dash and 4x200 relay, 21.51 and 42.24), Gino Vitella (Oakland record holder in discus, 142' 7") and Andrew Stebbins (record holder in shot put, 55' 4.25") on the men's side
• Vitella and Michael Cox competed in the US Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University where Vitella took eighth in the shot put and Cox was 11th in the 10,000m run
• All members of the record-holding men's 4x400 relay team return this season as well in Tim Pfund, Chris Scott, Derrek Williams and David Koponen (3:22.56)
• The women return strong athletes as well as Karli Keur is the current record holder in the 1500m run with a time of 4L36.85 and Autumn Cleverley holds 800m run record (2:16.73)
• Ashley Jemison is Oakland's record holder in the discus (121' 7") and Shannon Getchen sits atop the list in the hammer (152' 11")
• Katelynne Hartman has OU's record for women's shot put with a throw of 43' 9.25"
• In The Summit League last season, both the men and women earned sixth-place finishes
